ART MUMBAI Gateway hosted an exclusive visit to the Museum of Art and Photography’s Conservation Lab followed by a walkthrough of Beneath the Turning Sky.
MAP’s Conservation Lab aims to preserve and restore their own collection of Indian art, while developing skills and experience in the field of restoration within India. India’s hot and humid climate poses a risk to artwork, and the Conservation Lab aims to restore artworks and to prevent damage and maintain collections over time.
Beneath the Turning Sky curates artworks from a range of periods, regions and mediums, in a visual and tactile interactive experience. The walkthrough explored how humanity has understood the world through art — in the form of storytelling, imagination and reflection.
The Museum of Art and Photography, Bengaluru is a contemporary art museum, housing a collection of over 60,000 works spanning photography, paintings, sculptures, textiles, and folk art from across South Asia. MAP aims to make art accessible to everyone through both physical and digital platforms.
