Founded by Tushar Jiwarajka in 2009, Volte Gallery has established itself as a leading space for the arts in the vibrant cultural hub of Dubai's Alserkal Avenue. Originally from Mumbai, and now exclusively in the Emirates, the gallery is distinguished by its dual focus on showcasing groundbreaking contemporary works through Volte Art Projects and honoring the legacy of Indian and international masters at Volte Masters.
Volte Art Projects embodies a commitment to presenting innovative and boundary-pushing works by international contemporary artists and collectives. From luminaries such as Marina Abramovic, William Kentridge, and James Turrell - to icons such as Nalini Malani, Sheba Chhachhi, Navjot Altaf, and Based Upon. Seeking to blur the lines between art, design, and technology, Volte Art Projects embraces an experiential approach. The gallery strives to introduce monumental, cutting-edge projects and redefine artistic expression.
Volte Masters pays homage to India's Modernist art movement post-independence, encapsulating the rich cultural narratives and historical transitions. Curated meticulously, this sector features the exemplary works of pioneering artists who shaped the trajectory of Indian modern art including the likes of Manjit Bawa, Nasreen Mohamedi, M. F. Hussain, S. H. Raza, Tyeb Mehta, and Akbar Padamsee, each contributing uniquely to the narrative of Indian aesthetics, spirituality, and modernity.
Located in an expansive 8000 square foot space, Volte Gallery aims to foster a dynamic dialogue within the Middle Eastern contemporary art scene, by bridging the past and present, and the East and the West, and invites audiences to explore, engage, and appreciate the transformative power of art.
